The RTD Era Sonic Screwdriver: A Compiled History

Whether you thought it was all one device, or knew that it was pretty much a work in progress, you’ll be intrigued by this book.

When I first released the RTD era Sonic Screwdriver ebook there was one thing nagging me about it, one missing piece; The Intermediate Sonic. Where did it come from? More specifically, where did the parts for it come from if there were only ever two Aztec sonics made by Aztec Modelmaker?

So I spent some time recently working on a theory that I had, and with the help of a couple friends, I believe that we have finally solved the mystery of the Intermediate sonic!

You see, it has bugged me for a while now that the Wide Slider Aztec was only used in two scenes in Series 3. Even more so because those scenes were within the same episode. But what if it wasn’t used in those two scenes? If that were the case, then there’d be no trace of the Wide Slider Aztec in Series 3 at all.

This thought got me to dig deeper into my reference material, and back through the episodes to find the truth, and once again the Grey Aztec Body solved the mystery. Well, that and the ability to search the episodes frame by frame.

To find out the results, be sure to download the revised history of the RTD sonic screwdriver.

  1. Looking forward to this, it seems like we have nearly all the info on Sonics with this & the 3-5th, also by Brian on Rubbertoe’s Web page. There’s also a recent research on a blog http://www.thezeroroomblog.blogspot.com on the 2nd Dr’s Sonics with new info too. People are going Sonic mad!! It must be the weather.

  2. Hi there.
Really enjoyed reading, 9th/10th sonic is my favourite sonic. I thought I knew a lot about the history but after taking a look at this it blew my mind. The amount of time put into it must be… wow.
And I was wondering if you would give me the permission to repost/use some of the photos and some paragraphs in a forum in another country. I WILL definitely state the original writer and things like that.
    Cheers mate.

  4. I don’t mind you quoting the article, however regarding the pictures, it may be best to just link back to this file for the full article. This way any comments made on the forum can be cross referenced with the full article that everyone can download. The main reason being the original intent behind this article, which was to create an easy place to find all the facts compiled up to March 2019, since forums can easily become muddled with outdated information. I do appreciate you asking, though.

Which forum are you posting to?
