Hold onto your pointy hats and prepare the swamp dragons – some absolutely stonking news has just landed from the Terry Pratchett Estate! Get ready folks, because the gloriously bonkers, infinitely detailed, and utterly beloved Discworld is finally, officially, being adapted into graphic novels. And they’re kicking things off with a proper bang – not one, but three titles announced!

This is the news many of us have been dreaming of for years, right? Seeing Ankh-Morpork, the Ramtops, and all our favourite characters brought to life panel by panel.

So, what’s coming first?

It looks like they’re covering different corners of the Disc right from the start:

  1. The Wee Free Men: Kicking off the adaptations for younger readers (and let’s be honest, we’ll all be grabbing it) is Tiffany Aching’s brilliant debut. And who better to adapt it than Sir Terry’s own daughter, the fantastic Rhianna Pratchett? She calls it a “very personal book,” citing her Wiltshire roots and shepherdess gran. Lovely stuff. We’re still waiting to hear who the artist will be, but this one’s set for Spring 2027 from Puffin. Get ready for the Nac Mac Feegle!
  2. Thief of Time: Fancy some temporal shenanigans with the History Monks and Death’s granddaughter, Susan Sto Helit? This one’s being adapted by Gary Chudleigh (you might know his work on LEGO comics) and illustrated by the award-winning Rachael Stott. If you’re a fan of comics for Doctor Who, Star Trek, or Marvel’s X-Men, you’ll know her fantastic style. Award-winning colourist Ellie Wright is also on board. This is actually the first one launching, hitting shelves on 2 April 2026 via DoubleDay. You can already get your pre-order in at Waterstones and Amazon, with other shops surely to follow soon. Mark your calendars!
  3. Monstrous Regiment: Rounding out the initial trilogy is the fan-favourite tale of Polly Perks and the ‘unusual’ recruits of the Borogravian army. Expect this one in Autumn 2026. The rest of the creative team and more juicy details are still under wraps, but it completes a cracking launch line-up.

Rhianna Pratchett sounds properly chuffed about Discworld graphic novels

Talking about adapting The Wee Free Men, Rhianna said: “I’m delighted to be adapting The Wee Free Men, which is one of my favourite books by my father… Growing up in Wiltshire, England’s ‘Chalk Country’, and having a shepherdess grandmother makes it a very personal book for me… The book has so much heart, joy and humour that can be enjoyed by readers of all ages, and I hope the graphic novel collaboration with Puffin will open up these marvellous stories to a new audience.” Couldn’t agree more – introducing new readers to the Disc through stunning visuals sounds brilliant.

An expansive universe? Yes please!

The announcement hints this is just the beginning of what they hope will be an “expansive graphic novel universe.” Just imagine… Guards! Guards!, Mort, Small Gods, Going Postal… the potential is absolutely mind-boggling! Which ones are top of your wish list?
